Volcom
Volcom was founded in 1991 by Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall, who left their jobs after a snowboarding trip to Tahoe and started the company with a $5,000 investment from Woolcott's father to create apparel for skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding. The brand grew from a rebellious idea into a significant lifestyle brand, known for its distinctive "Volcom Stone" logo and "Youth Against Establishment" philosophy. The company later expanded into action sports entertainment with the launch of Volcom Entertainment and has faced significant ownership changes, including a takeover by Kering in 2011 and licensing by Authentic Brands Group (AGB) in 2019.
